Francisco Pizarro, Conqueror of the Inca Empire Capital only 177 troops and 62 horses, Pizarro conquered the Inca empire which had a population of not less than 6 million people. Francisco Pizarro was born in Trujillo, Spain around 1475. He was famous for illiterate although he managed to conquer the Inca empire in Peru. The story of his life is similar to Hernando Cortes where he initially went to the New World (the Americas) to try their luck looking for the glory. From 1502 until 1509 Pizarro lived in Hispaniola, the Caribbean island, in an area that now includes the Dominican Republic and Haiti. In 1513 he participated in an expedition under the leadership of Vasco Nunez de Balboa, who discovered the Atlantic Ocean. Pizzaro then settled in Panama in 1519. He began to hear about the Inca empire from a Spanish explorer who never came to see, Pascual de Andagoya. Izzaro motivated to Hernando Cortes who conquered the Aztecs in Mexico.
